Need a source of quick pep and energy? Horlicks, available in either powder or tablet form, is just the thing to try.
Down in Pine Ridge, a Mr. Worthington has offered a million dollars for Squire’s silver mine. When the offer was rejected, the citizens of Pine Ridge began to worry that Squire might risk losing the deal, yet many are eager to get their hands on more stock. Lum talks to Dick about folks mortgaging their properties to gather as much cash as possible to buy in while the deal goes through.
However, Dick remains as skeptical as ever and has started investigating on his own. He is keeping things quiet until he can gather the facts, but when it comes to Squire, Dick refuses to believe the situation is on the level. One suspicious detail he has uncovered is that the alleged buyer from Arizona actually has Oklahoma license plates on his car. Can he convince Lum to play it safe? There is plenty that could go wrong, even if the silver mine proves to be a legitimate deal.
Later, the conversation shifts to Abner’s high-society life and his fast-paced antics as he burns up the local nightlife, running circles around the rest of the town. Just then, Abner rushes up in his car, runs inside to jump on the phone, and excitedly tells Dick, Lum, and Grandpap about the latest party he has lined up.
