Lum and Abner – High Society The First Families Of PineRidge. 350725

Two men dressed in traditional Hawaiian attire, Lum and Abner, are seen mid-dance in the center of a small store. Lum, on the left, is playing a ukulele while Abner on the right is swaying his hips and waving his arms. A small crowd is gathered around them, some clapping and others smiling. The store itself is cluttered with various items, including shelves of canned goods and hanging clothes, giving it a cozy and lived-in feel.

Horlick’s: Carlton Bricker asks moms and dads to step aside so he can talk directly to the kids about how refreshing and delicious Horlicks is as a treat.

Down in Pine Ridge, the whole town has gone crazy over silver mine stock, with everyone harboring high aspirations of becoming millionaires. Today, Squire and Lum discuss a few fashion updates for Lum. Squire has Lum all decked out in fancy clothes that mix several different sporting styles. Lum feels a bit ridiculous, but Squire insists he will be a trendsetter.

Squire explains his plan to establish exclusive country clubs where membership is reserved strictly for the wealthy or those who hold enough silver mine stock. He then convinces Lum to reinvest his 10% commission straight back into shares of the mine—a clever maneuver for Squire to keep his cash while making Lum rich on paper.

Abner drops by to join the conversation and offer his unfiltered opinion on Lum’s new wardrobe. Unfazed, Lum’s spirits remain high as he begins planning a grand debut party for the town.
