Adventures of Philip Marlowe – The Gold Cobra. ep89, 500621

Gerald Mohr in 1951. A black and white photograph of Gerald Mohr, a man in a suit and tie, posing in front of a microphone with headphones on. He is holding a script in one hand and appears to be in the midst of speaking or recording. The background is dark and nondescript, with no discernible details.

Philip is humming the blues, a leftover mood from his previous adventure, when he finds himself fending off phony blind beggars and preparing to fly off to Chicago. His mission? To act as bodyguard to a golden trinket. Ross Winkham shares the details of the exotic Middle Eastern parties who are eager to get their hands on the cobra statue.

Will they take the bait and follow the decoy suitcase? A red-headed dame might not be so easily gullible. The chase is on, leading straight to a thump on the head in a hilltop mansion. Soon, the red-headed dame is singing a new tune when Marlowe catches her on the spot.

Excitement turns deadly when the golden cobra transforms into a real, live snake. Marlowe needs a clever plan to escape sudden and silent death, but the cobra isn’t the only killer in the joint. Stand by for plenty of fist-fighting, head-thumping action before the truth finally comes out. Murderous masterminds haven’t counted on an ambush from the cobra, but Marlowe still needs to maneuver his way clear of danger.

Note: Guest voices for this episode include Howard McNaires and William Conrad in a couple of different roles.
