In the home of wealthy stockbroker Philip Drake, his friend Roger is brought in to convince Vivian not to walk out on Philip’s marriage. As tensions escalate, a gun is produced, and in a heated moment of passion, Philip shoots Vivian to prevent her from leaving him for someone else. Proving to be a fiercely loyal friend, Roger volunteers to dispose of both the weapon and the body. However, once Roger reaches the woods, a shocking conspiracy is revealed: the gun was loaded with blanks, and Vivian actually drives away safely in Roger’s car.
Meanwhile, Roger returns to blackmail his old friend. In reality, Vivian is hidden away at Roger’s apartment, growing increasingly unhappy with the slow pace at which Roger is milking Philip for cash. Tired of being cooped up, Vivian takes a risky trip out shopping—threating to blow the entire scheme wide open.
As the blackmail visits continue, Philip finally reaches his breaking point. Refusing to make another payment, he begins to see through the ruse of the staged murder. When he forces Roger to take him to a grave he is certain doesn’t exist, Philip is stunned to find that it actually contains a corpse. Is it Vivian? His nerves completely shatter, and the police are called so he can turn himself in. But in true Mysterious Traveler fashion, there is still one final twist waiting to ensure true justice is served.
