The scene in Pine Ridge opens in a courtroom where the evidence against Lum and Abner hasn’t been going their way. Lum is missing, while Abner, Dick, and Grandpap talk about where Lum may be and what has delayed him. The jury is imposing and intimidating. Squire is smug and struts to the witness stand. He tells his version of the story as he talks to the jury.
When Lum is summoned, Abner explains that he hasn’t come back yet from the insurance company and takes the stand. The incriminating letter is presented, then Grandpap takes the stand. Though his testimony is sure to be a no-nonsense one, his credibility is challenged, as is Cedric’s, over their being recently fired by Squire on grounds that they may hold a grudge.
Suddenly, Lum rushes in from the insurance agent with news that blows the lid off Squire’s defenses! Armed with key evidence straight from the insurance office, Lum turns the entire case upside down just as the prosecution thought they had victory sealed. Will Lum’s last-minute discovery be enough to completely clear their names and expose Squire’s scheme? Tune in to hear the dramatic conclusion in court!
