After an opening song, Colonel Stoopnagel and Bud discuss potential sponsors and spend some time observing the stars. Following a commercial and musical interlude, their continuing political saga carries on—though Stoopnagel is actually relieved to see his vote count isn’t rolling in, glad to avoid being elected to the White House!
The show continues with a rendition of “Louisiana Hayride,” after which Bud and Stoopnagel chat about horse racing and other lighthearted topics. Next comes another musical break featuring “Begin the Beguine”. Special guest Fred Allen drops by to lend his talents, joining the hosts for a humorous spoof of Gangbusters involving a crime centered around babies.
Later in the broadcast, Stoopnagel introduces amateur impersonator Bernie Kay, who performs a medley of tunes, followed by a performance from a pair of harmonica players. Bud and Stoopnagel present even more musical talent, including a banjo and accordion duet of “Hold That Tiger”.
As listeners learn near the end, this episode marks the final week for the summer replacement show, with Fred Allen returning to his regular time slot next week.
