Lum and Abner – Lum Wont Arrest Squire. 350618

A crumpled, coffee-stained piece of paper lying on a wooden surface. The paper has typed text about legal matters and a handwritten note at the bottom that reads: "GRANDPAP VOID? Lum + Abner discuss." To the left of the paper, there is a pair of round glasses and a container labeled "HORLICKS." In the background, several folded and stacked papers or newspapers are partially visible. The overall tone is sepia, giving a vintage feel.

Horlicks: A special drink for young folks to keep their energy level up. Drink it as a cold summer beverage, and tell mom it’s good for you!
Down in Pine Ridge, Abner has discovered that Squire’s theater violates a fire hazard law. Today, Grandpap tells his troubles to Abner, complaining about the contract Squire backed out of that left Grandpap without a job. When Grandpap hears the news regarding the fire hazard, he thinks it’s the best news yet to get back at Squire.
Lum joins the conversation and is asked to give Grandpap’s contract a look. Abner marvels at Lum’s mastery of all those big, legal terms. But despite the flood of big words, what can Grandpap actually do? Is the contract legal? Will Lum, as Justice of the Peace, need to serve an arrest warrant on Squire? Lum is suddenly reluctant to serve papers, feeling it would manipulate the law for personal purposes, but Grandpap demands the law be carried out.
