Today Lum and Abner eagerly await the return of Squire Skimp, and the cash he has for the sale of the hogs. Abner jumps to conclusions, thinking the check they’ll get is a bad one. As Abner cools down, Lum takes a phone call about the delivery of his statue.
Lum needs to start planning his unveiling ceremony, right after he tries to explain it all to Abner. A big BBQ is planned for the whole town. An announcement is made over the party line Squire enters as the phone call ends.
