Down in Pine Ridge we find Lum and Abner travelling with their circus. As Lum hangs out with Zenora, Cedric and Abner chat about Lum’s new love affair.
Who is the main boss of the circus? It’s supposed to be Lum, but he’s too distracted. Squire is the one who has been actually running the show. He stops in to talk with Abner about some of the management responsibilities of the show. I think even Squire is beginning to want to turn the management over to Lum, if only he could break it off with Zenora.
Lum shares an idea to feature Zenora more, but both Abner and Squire have doubts. When they go to make change for the ticket booth, they discover that cash is missing from the safe. Better plug that hole in the money flow. A thief in the company is a good way to destroy it.
Horlick drama: At the breakfast table, mom is trying to get dad to eat a bite. He’s not hungry, and didn’t sleep well. Mom reminds him what they heard on the Lum and Abner show about Horlicks helping to get a good night’s rest.
