Gracie’s latest fad is analyzing handwriting. She shares with her doubtful neighbor, Blanche that the expert claims that George should get out of radio. Now Blanche is a little less doubtful. Gracie figures George’s true calling is to be a doctor. She realizes that the only reason he’s in radio is to give her a job. When George comes to breakfast, Gracie gives him the chance to prove what kind of doctor he is. George isn’t convinced that he should be a doctor. He needs more schooling. He’s too old for it. After all his excuses, George heads off to the cigar shop. Meanwhile, Blanche returns to hear Gracie’s plan to send George to doctoring school.
Gracie is off to General Hospital to speak to the general. Can she convince the hospital to take George on as a new doctor? There is a need for volunteers for experimental lab experiments, and Gracie gets George signed up for being a lab monkey.
Blanche learns about the job in the experimental laboratory and is concerned. How will George take the news about his new job? George misunderstands and thinks he is supposed to sing to make patients feel better. Misunderstandings abound as the doctors and George talk past each other. Elsewhere, Gracie tries to explain to Bill Goodwin about George’s new career. Bill Goodwin poses as the doctor, but is the head nurse skeptical? Although the medical related mid show commercial doesn’t work out. Gracie learns the experiment to make George live to 100 is underway. (It must have worked, since he actually did live to be 100 and real life.)
George still doesn’t understand what the experiment is for, and tries to work out his musical routine. Can Gracie fake an illness to try to get into the lab? The experiment is over, and the doctors have bad news. George is declared crazy, and Gracie take some home.
