Lum has been hiding in the feed room of the Jot ‘Em Down store after being accused of operating an illegal post office. Though Dick Huddleston has brought word the charges were dropped, he encouraged Abner to keep it a secret, and make Lum suffer a little longer for his misdeed.
Abner convinces Lum that with his scruffy look, he could pass as someone else. It’s put to the test when grandpap enters the store. Before Lum comes out though, Abner talks privately with grandpap to talk about Lum’s plans to go South of the border. Will Lum’s new look work for him? Will people recognize him?
Grandpap’s teasing may have just pushed Lum over the top though.
