A wealthy bachelor gets ready for a party when tragedy strikes. He is gunnned down, and the case is brought to Mr Keen by the dead mans butler. Mr Keen puts the butler on the spot and gets more details from him. He demands only truth and honesty if he to be hired to investigate. But still was the butler holding back?

Mr Keen and his partner, Mike Clancey interview the fiancee, the maid, and the bachelor friend of the dead man. Suspicious activities are turned up, but is it enough to lay blame just yet? The fiancee’s maid is the wife of the dead man’s butler. Mr Keen thinks there could be some hidden agenda with that relationship. Especially when the maid is missing. Can Mr Keen get more information from the valet? .

Mr Keen finds a clue in an old phonebook found at the dead man’s house. A matter of jealousy and a possible love triangle arises. With some help from Mike Clancey, Mr Keen knows who the real killer is, and sets up a meeting to expose them.
