Kingfish is back at it, though this time he is actually sinking his own money into a new business venture: a lunch counter. When Andy stops by to let him know that Amos is interested in investing, Kingfish drops a much more pressing bomb—his brother-in-law, Leroy, is coming to town for a visit. With Sapphire away, Kingfish is desperate to keep Leroy entertained and immediately tries to pawn him off on Andy.
Along with Lightning, Andy heads to the train station to intercept Leroy, hoping to brush him off. Instead, they find a man eager to go into business with Kingfish based on some land he claims to own out west. Smelling potential investment money, Andy rushes back to alert Kingfish, who eagerly makes plans to have Leroy move in.
Complications hit immediately when Kingfish—having no idea what Leroy looks like—accidentally bumps into him in the hotel lobby. Not knowing who he is talking to, Kingfish paints a bleak picture of his brother-in-law as an absolute swindler, while Leroy counters by praising his brother-in-law to the skies. Desperate to cover his tracks once the truth comes out, Andy convinces Leroy that Kingfish is “just a friend”.
To keep the ruse alive, they recruit Gabby Gibson to impersonate Kingfish. Of course, nothing ever goes smoothly: what happens when Leroy asks a question Gabby cannot answer? The chaos reaches its peak when Sapphire returns home early, leaving Kingfish with some exceptionally fast explaining to do!
