The saga of Jet Morgan and his crew of astronauts continues. The story opens near the end of the journey with a reading from Doc’s diary—a grim account of a mission where 20 brave crew members set out, but only 8 are returning to Earth.
The journey begins smoothly as a small fleet of spaceships launches from a remote lunar base. However, on a long-distance trip to Mars, safe and secure life-support systems are critical, and tragedy rears its head early on. Linking the spaceships requires a dangerous spacewalk, while personality clashes create tension as the astronauts adapt to their tight living quarters—a concerning dynamic for a journey spanning a year to arrive and another year to return.
Note: While the audio for this episode cuts off abruptly, the content appears complete; the opening and closing credits were simply removed, as with several other episodes in this series run.
One of my all time favorite serials. I’ve heard all three, but I regularly get the impulse to go back to the beginning of the first one and play them all through again. It makes the hair stand up on my neck whenever I hear the intro: “The BBC presents Jet Morgan in JOURRRNEY INTO SPAAAAAAACE…” Goshwowboyoboy.
