On a cold winter day in Dodge City, Matt Dillon and Chester are wishing for spring as they enter Delmonico’s for breakfast. While there, they discover the notorious Pueblo gang is in town. Should Matt run them out, or wait until they cause trouble? So far, they haven’t broken any laws.
Later, after watching a train pull out of the station—leaving Chester daydreaming about a vacation to St. Louis—the regular stagecoach fails to arrive on time. Matt and Chester ride out to investigate the trail. They find track evidence showing all the markings of a ambush by the Pueblo gang, suggesting the passengers may have been taken hostage.
Tracking the outlaws into the wilderness, Matt and Chester discover an injured female passenger. Her story confirms Matt’s worst suspicions and turns out to involve a woman from his past, making the mission deeply personal. Returning to Dodge City to check the local livery stable for evidence, Matt finds all the proof he needs. Armed with the truth, Matt sets out to hunt down the gang, ready to meet them with swift gunplay if necessary.
