Lum and Abner – Lum And Abner Receive Notice Of Lawsuit. 350627

A crumpled, coffee-stained piece of paper lying on a wooden surface. The paper has typed text about legal matters and a handwritten note at the bottom that reads: "GRANDPAP VOID? Lum + Abner discuss." To the left of the paper, there is a pair of round glasses and a container labeled "HORLICKS." In the background, several folded and stacked papers or newspapers are partially visible. The overall tone is sepia, giving a vintage feel.

Horlicks: If you’re feeling tired and drowsy, don’t blame it on your work. It could be that you need Horlicks to help you get to sleep better at night. Get it at your local druggist.

Down in Pine Ridge, Lum and Abner have been worrying over the injuries Squire Skimp allegedly received from his fall in their movie theater. They were relieved to hear he was well enough to travel to the county seat, hoping his trip was for ordinary business.

Today finds Abner deeply involved in a checker game against himself. Lum scolds him for wasting time and sets him to work doing chores around the Jot ‘Em Down Store. Their local gossip is interrupted by Cedric, who drops in with news about tonight’s movie presentation. Once Cedric leaves, the conversation shifts back to Squire’s health and why he went to hire a lawyer. Thinking the attorney might be for something unrelated, Lum calls Squire to offer help, but Squire reacts with anger and abruptly hangs up. Soon after, mail carrier Dick Huttleston delivers a registered letter revealing the truth: Squire’s lawyers are official suing them for damages.

Horlicks: Unsurpassed as a food for infants. Extremely digestible and highly recommended by the medical profession.
