Gracie is having the first meeting of her Beverly hills up lifters club. George is determined to break up the meeting, but first he gets the inside scoop of the rumor mill from Gracie. The ladies love their hats. Bill Goodwin arrives to get in on the jokes about the Gabby dames, then dutifully delivers the commercial. As Bill leaves, Gracie returns to discuss what to get her brother Willie, who is serving overseas in the Army.

We drop in on the ladies who are still chattering. Gracie called the meeting to order to get the report on the latest gossip. Gracie presents the usual reports of the meeting, and what all the local celebrities are doing. What will help with recruiting new members? George pulls Gracie aside to try to get her to talk about serious topics, like the war effort. She ins up explaining matters of rationing to their little duck, Herman. Gracie is determined to go back to convince her ladies to pool resources. They decide to start by pooling their husbands’ cigars.

Gracie is pleased to tell George the ladies are already starting to pool their resources. George learns the depths of their efforts when he tries to relax. His slippers are gone. Not to mention his newspaper and robe. The neighbors are even swapping magazine subscriptions. Bill rushes in to hide from Tootsie Sagwell. The man crazy dame gets in on the commercial, and the promotion to get an encyclopedia. Even the neighbor boy stops in to pool the radio. Is Gracie only pooling things that belong to George?
