Jack Benny Love Scene with Ann Sheridan. Ep445, 420503

Jack Benny and Mary Livingstone on the set of their radio show in 1942.

Don Wilson rolls back the clock so we can join Jack Benny and the cast on the set of Jack’s new movie. Jack interrupts Rochester as he sings and cleans house so he can read Ann Sheridan’s lines for him. The love scene becomes absurd as Rochester is transformed into an upscale high society girl. Mary enters to admire Jack’s studio dressing room. Jack’s makeup man enters to help with his struggle with father time.

After a few bars of traveling music, Jack’s makeover continues. Phil, Don and Dennis all arrive. Since Jack is occupying Errol Flynn’s dressing room, he enjoys taking his phone calls. It’s time to make their way to the movie set.

Phil Harris plays: Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree with Anyone Else but (with a brief break in the middle of the song.)

On the set, Phil and Dennis want to be introduced to Ann Sheridan. Instead, they get to meet the director, Mr. Keeley. As Jack nervously waits for his big scene, Ann Sheridan makes her appearance. She doesn’t seem responsive to his amorous advancements. The actress takes time to meet the cast. How will she react to the starstruck Dennis Day? Quiet on the set! It’s time for Jack’s big scene! It’s not the one he prepared for, but can he manage to show the right emotions?
