In a visit to Scotland Yard’s Black Museum, we find the items related to the close of a successful murder case. In voiceover and drama, we roll the clock back to the time of World War 2 and a murder scene.

Time has gone by and the body found. Now it’s up to modern forensics to study the skeletal remains to identify the body, and look for clues about the killer. Height, age, rough idea of hair color, and that she was female are the basics of what is known. Missing persons reports are checked, an old ID card, and ration book offer clues. Is this the same woman?

Interviews of folks who were around at the time are conducted. The ID and ration book are those of a wife of a firefighter. People remember a fire before her missing but there’s no connection between the body and the missing woman yet. Possibilities are run through the minds of the Scotland Yard Investigators, questions are raised, but the biggest curiosity is that the firefighter husband has now suddenly disappeared.

A manhunt is on, and it’ll take diligent, and plodding policework to gather all the evidence, and players together to bring this case to its close. The drama kicks up a notch, and the voiceover fills in the gaps with explanation as the cops get their man.
