Jack Benny – The TeePee Hotel. ep400, 410223

Jack Benny and Mary Livingstone on the set of their radio show in 1942.

Audio is mostly good, but with a weak spot during the first song.

Don introduces our toughened master of ceremonies, Jack Benny, but is he fearful of anything at Palm Springs? Is his TP hotel running by an Indian? Jack sets Don straight on the remote location of his budget hotel. Mary pokes fun at Jack’s frugal living arrangements, and corny cowboy suit. Dennis has his own crazy outlook on the desert resort. Audio gets weak to add to the usual interruptions before Dennis sings, Presidia.

Having tonsils taken out sparks a round of jokes before Phil arrives. He tells about his “dud” ranch where he’s staying. Health, rest, and tans take over as the topic. Jack tells about his rigorous activities hiking, swimming, horseback riding, and more. The gang try to get Jack to upgrade his reservations, then Phil plays, There’ll Be Some Changes Made.

The healthy climate inspires a poem from Mary, about Palm Springs. The teasing nearly has Jack ready to upgrade to the Racquet Club. Rochester phones in with car troubles, and his own offer to upgrade his hotel.
