Two soldiers in the heat of a battlefield talk about their girlfriends back home. Dave is certain that the spirit of his girlfriend is somehow protecting him. Is it possible for LaRay to shield and protect him? Or is it just a fanciful notion?

Dave recounts in flashback a little about the bond he and LaRay have had since childhood, up to their parting moment the two soul mates vow to never part. Dave tells how he can feel her presence and hear her voice, despite the worst of the raging conflict around him.

The day of Dave’s return comes, and he goes home without announcing his travel plans, relying on LaRay’s promise that she’ll know the moment he arrives safely. What will Dave find on that golden autumn day as he reaches the farm? LaRay waits for him in their special place, but there’s something not quite right about her greeting. He receives a shocking bit of news as he surprises his parents with his return. Will Dave have to go through life alone? Will love actually conquer death and last forever?
