As the evening grows late, a knock comes to the door of Philip Marlowe. Who’s the girl, and why has he been mistaken for a doctor? Marlowe sees through a murder, and the man who couldn’t take the risk to go to the cops himself. Philip agrees to do what he can, and soon runs up against a thug. Did the bruiser kill the dame?
