Lum and Abner – Abner’s Money Goes to Lizabeth’s Head. 480906

Two men dressed in traditional Hawaiian attire, Lum and Abner, are seen mid-dance in the center of a small store. Lum, on the left, is playing a ukulele while Abner on the right is swaying his hips and waving his arms. A small crowd is gathered around them, some clapping and others smiling. The store itself is cluttered with various items, including shelves of canned goods and hanging clothes, giving it a cozy and lived-in feel.

Abner assures Lum that he is unchanged by his new found money. He goes on to tell about his new worries in dodging all the salesmen who have come calling for him.

As Abner continues telling how Lizabeth is bragging and flaunting herself in new clothes, yet another salesman phones. What will Abner do with a yacht? He doesn’t need any new boats, especially any with golden oars. Where would he sail it anyway

‘ The slow burn hits as Abner realizes what the price tag is on the yaacht. Then Lizabeth phones in with yet another extravagance for Abner. Usually he is henpecked, and caves in to her every wish. Today she has pushed him too far, and he actually chews her out. A rare moment.
