Lum and Abner – Squire Buys Abner’s Half of the Store. 480813

Two men dressed in traditional Hawaiian attire, Lum and Abner, are seen mid-dance in the center of a small store. Lum, on the left, is playing a ukulele while Abner on the right is swaying his hips and waving his arms. A small crowd is gathered around them, some clapping and others smiling. The store itself is cluttered with various items, including shelves of canned goods and hanging clothes, giving it a cozy and lived-in feel.

Abner has sold his half of the store to Squire Skimp for $10. Today, Lum explains the deal to grandpap. Abner enters all bent over… what’s he looking for? It’s because his back is aching. Could it be Lumbago… maybe Abnerbago?

Abner is in such agony, and self pity, he can’t do anything but worry, and take long looks at the condition of the store’s floorboards. Will he be bent over like this forever? Lum calls the doctor on the party line. Instead, Lum has to deal with the talkative Sister Simpson.

Doc Miller is in the county seat, but terms like spinal column, and vertabrae get Lum confused. Lum’s new partner, Squire Skimp, enters and may have a solution to Abner’s back trouble.
