The Spartans face off against the Persians. The Greeks have the battlefield advantage, a narrow gap that the charging Persians have to get through before a victory can be hoped for. Interviewing a Spartan, we learn that they are defending their homeland, and even if the Persians manage to breach their defenses, the Spartans are prepared to fight to the last man.
Radio link ups take us to the delegation at Athens. After the politicians deliever a few speeches, we return to the battlefield. It seems that on this third day of fighting, the Persians have found a mountain pass, and have surprised the Spartans with an attack from the rear. The Persian leader is interviewed, and he tells how he came to find the pass. The Spartans still aren’t out of the fight.
The battle rages, but the sad word comes in from the capital, there won’t be any reinforcements for the Spartans at Thermopylae. It’s a fight to the death, but who will win? You could go and check your history books, or you could just listen in and find out.
