Lum and Abner – Hire Squire to Be Ballyhoo Man. 480601

Two men dressed in traditional Hawaiian attire, Lum and Abner, are seen mid-dance in the center of a small store. Lum, on the left, is playing a ukulele while Abner on the right is swaying his hips and waving his arms. A small crowd is gathered around them, some clapping and others smiling. The store itself is cluttered with various items, including shelves of canned goods and hanging clothes, giving it a cozy and lived-in feel.

Going into the circus business, Squire wants to be taken on as a third partner. Today Lum talks to Ben Withers about the proposition. Ben thinks Squire might be a good one to have on hand, but what about hiring him on instead?

Abner arrives, as Ben has to get back to running the jail, and taking back over from Willie D Boozler

Abner gets confused over Lum’s figure of speach at hiring Squire for a song. Squire pops in to have Abner sing to him. Now its his turn to be confused.

Will Lum be able to afford the kind of salary that Squire might demand? Squire has a way of making common farm animals sound like exotic attractions.
