Lum and Abner – Abner in Mount Ida Rodeo. 471201

Two men dressed in traditional Hawaiian attire, Lum and Abner, are seen mid-dance in the center of a small store. Lum, on the left, is playing a ukulele while Abner on the right is swaying his hips and waving his arms. A small crowd is gathered around them, some clapping and others smiling. The store itself is cluttered with various items, including shelves of canned goods and hanging clothes, giving it a cozy and lived-in feel.

Squire pops in with a complaint about Abner. What has come over him to cause him to run wild? Abner has taken to dressing like a cowboy, and swaggering all through the town. He has even taken to carrying pistols and is riding on an old sway back horse.

Lum shares a secret that explains this, and previous episodes. He and Ben built up Abners confidence so he would stand up to Lizabeth, and help them with Lum’s new navy.

Ben comes in to interupt the discussion of Abner’s new look, and the monster he helped to create, to tell about a celebration over at Mt Ida. Just then, Abner also enters, talking like a tough cowboy, and is talked into being the representative from Pine Ridge to the Mt Ida event. What has Cactus Peabody signed up to do? Has he bitten off more than he can chew, when he discovers that he’ll be participating in the rodeo bulldogging contest?
