Lum and Abner – Two Hundred Barrels of Formula. 470813

Lum and Abner in a Publicity Photo. 5x6. In this black and white publicity photo, two men, Lum and Abner, are posing together in a studio. They are dressed in suits and ties, with Abner on the left wearing a hat and holding a cane, while Lum on the right has his hands in his pockets. They are smiling at the camera with a friendly and approachable demeanor, creating a sense of warmth and familiarity. The photo has a vintage feel, reflecting the era in which they were popular radio personalities.

While Lum has been doing paperwork at his desk, Abner is frustrated at being overworked. Demands for the new formula is at a fever pitch. Lum has been calculating what the demand means. Using barrels, instead of bottles and jars. Acquiring bigger mixing tubs, and generally stepping up production.

Abner gets confused at what a cistern is. He gets off on a tangent about a family with a lot of daughters. Lum manages to get his thoughts back on track about a cistern, but Abner has trouble dropping the idea of that family.

Put in charge of finding barrels to put the fformula in, Abner asks Ben Withers for help. Ben jumps right on the phone to call in some favors. The long distance call to Maimie at the switchboard leads to Ben talking to a few of his cronies back at Mt Idy before it’s over. The call is actually shorter than expected… what did Ben neglect to mention about the transaction? I hope Lum and Abner like sauer kraut.
