As Blair is still on his vacation at his sisters, and visits at Cherry Hill, a word of another murder comes to his ears. At breakfast, he gets the details, and that the man who was apprehended is to be hanged next week. Though he is still on vacation, Blair is asked to assist in the investigation when the local cops think they may have the wrong man, but no new evidence is forthcoming to offer the hard evidence to clear the condemned man.
Ballistics reports give the first clue that something is amiss. The man was in a place to have done the shooting, and even had motive, but curiosity has been raised. Yet another murder takes place at Cherry Hill, this time a constable. The bullet wound is odd because there’s an entry wound, but no exit wound. Medical exam shows there is no bullet inside the body.
Meanwhile, Blair has been able to learn important facts from the housestaff. The wound may have the Brittish cops flustered, but Blair recognizes it, and knows exactly what the murder weapon was. He shares the answer, in the next episode.
