Fibber McGee and Molly – Stuck In The Grating. ep599, 491115

A black and white photograph of Fibber McGee and Molly, a couple from a popular radio show of the same name. They are standing in front of a closet that has been opened, with clothes and other items spilling out onto the floor. Fibber is holding a mop and wearing an apron, while Molly looks on with a smile on her face. The overall effect is one of humor and domesticity, with the couple's playful antics and cluttered living space providing a snapshot of life in mid-century America in 1948.

To go out for a first class night on the town, Fibber and Molly take the trolley to the Bon Ton Department store. As they arrive downtown, they encounter the Old Timer who is looking for his girlfriend, Bessey. She’s a Southern gal you know. That’s why she says, “Y’all.” Billy Mills plays, Ain’t She sweet.

Fibber has managed to get his head stuck in a grate at the store, and now has to face embarrassment in public. Being the center of attention, it’s a good time for Harlow to stop and sell some of the sponsors product. A rainstorm kicks up and the crowd disperses, but Fibber is still stuck. Ole the janitor is a handy guy, but can he help get Fibber free? At least McGee gets himself mobile, but Fibber still has a hand stuck. The Kingsmen sing, California Roundup.

The McGees go to Doc Gamble to see what he might do to get Fibber’s hand free. Not to mention partaking in teasing and insults.
