After not working a case for weeks, Richard makes arrangements to go on a date with Hellen. Before he can head out though, he gets a thump on the head from a guy in a plaid overcoat. Duke is a thug known to be a blackmailer, and is going to be a key person to locate to unravel this mystery.
Richard goes right to the gangsters to see what he can learn. What might Duke’s girlfriend know about where he is? Before you know it, Richard has someone in a plaid overcoat following him, and one more thump on the head.
His scam to get close to Duke isn’t very convincing, but once he does, the secrets are revealed along with the elaborate plan of the gangsters to double cross each other. Will Richard live to get out of the clutches of the gang? Will he just be colateral damage as the gang plans to bump off its traitors? One good thump on the head deserves another, and let’s kjust say that Hellen has the chance to be crooned to one more time.
