Command Performance – Bob Hope, Deanna Durbin, Dennis Day. ep102, 440122

"Dancing silhouettes" - A black and white image featuring the silhouettes of two people dancing together, captured in mid-motion. The figures are set against a light background and the lines of their bodies are sharp and angular. The woman's dress and the man's suit are clearly defined, while their faces are left blank, creating a sense of anonymity. The image evokes a feeling of joy and movement, as the couple appears to be lost in the rhythm of the dance.

Bob Hope hosts the show, and tells about his recent touring at Army camps. Also he does a little teasing about a ski trip, even about some Valentines Day pranks, and jokes about couples in cars.

After a dip in the mailbag, Benny Goodman’s Quartet play Contact Benny. Bob brings more greetings from the mailbag, with requests to hear sounds from home. The soundman presents an oil well pumping.

More mail requests lead to Dennis Day singing, My Heart Tells Me.

Bob, with Joan Wesley do a sketch of intense drama. Yeah, right. It’s spring, and a boy waits in the park for his girl. They talk about the sights of the city, the park, and about their families. Bob tells about trouble he has had at work. They are about to leave when they have trouble from the Irish cop, Dennis Day.

Deanna Durbin teases Bob about a part in her next picture, where she catches Bob off guard with an adlib. She sings, Ave Maria.

Bob reads a few more mailbag greetings, then calls on a return of Benny Goodman. After a quick adlib of his own Benny plays, I Found a New Baby. Bob parts with words, and thanks to the troops for doing what they’re doing.

PS: Gotta love that Bob, and the way he supported the troops.
