Natty Bumpo, also known as Deer Slayer to his Indiann friends and Hawkeye to the white man,, is the creation of J Fenimore Cooper, The hawkeyed woodsman is loosely based on Daniel Boone. The woodsman is being called on to helpp the soldiers at the local fort.
Deer slayer talks with others about the fort commander, his cheif officer, and his lovely daughter, Judith. What happened to his wife? Let’s just say she didn’t survive the recent witch trials. Regardless, the beauty and charm of Judith is legendary, eeven among the Delaware, Mohawk, and other Indian tribes.
We learn a little about the noble redskins, and their honorable treatment of those they feel are mentally challenged, and protected vy the great spirits.
