After leaving to put their hat masterpiece in a Hollywood contest, grandpap has discovered the deadline is long over. It’s too late to stop the guys as they try to go on Tom Breneman’s radio show.
Host of morning radio, Tom Breneman talks with his secretary about a curious message to meet with Mr Edwards, also about a hot tip at the racetrack. Uncle Corny, a character from Tom’s show tries to write a joke as Lum and Abner enter. Lum is mistaken for the man with the tip on the horses. Confusion ensues when Tom’s winner isn’t the same as the winner that Lum has in mind.
Who ever heard of a horse that’s pink and green, has a bird on top, and even has a fur collor? Tom has the last laugh when the truth comes out, but will Lum and Abner get the joke?
