Red Skelton (Avalon Time) Robin Hood, or Party At Red’s House. ep16, 390422

Red opens with jokes about boxing, and playing golf. Red Foley sings, Cowboy and the Lady.

Bob Strong plays, Sing a Song of Sunbeams.

Red has invited the gang to his new house. His overweight friend, Phil Davis, and his wisecracking secretary Miss Stillwell meet the landlord, and see the sad condition of Red’s home;. Red Foley and a mild mannered gent named Hercules pop in for home related jokes.. Will Red spring for refreshments to liven up the party? Janette sings, Be Still My Heart.

Red Foley sings, Little Sir Echo.

Rolling back the clock, we are transported to visit Sherwood Forest., and Red Skelton’s ancestor, Robin Hood. How will he respond when he finds the sheriff is on the way? There’s plenty of pop culture reference, and borrowed gags along the way. Friar Tuck Hercules has his own problem, but when he’s told to go fly a kite, it could be Red’s undoing later.

Bob Strong plays, Hold Tight.

Note: Red claims to get a birdie without telling a joke. He also had a running gag where he talked to his microphone, and it talked back. This, and another gag where he echoed others, or had a rapid fire exchange, were borrowed by other comedians of the time.

Also, musical duties with the band seem to switch between Phil Davis, and arranger, Bob Strong.
