Our Miss Brooks – The New School Television Set. ep127, 510422

The latest upheaval at Madison High is shared as Connie Brooks talks with her landlady, Mrs Davis, about educational programming on TV. Meanwhile, Connie has her own worries over debts with her Easter shopping that threaten to have her employer notified.

Tex Barton finds Connie at school to let her know Mr Boynton is looking to ask a favor. He has the same problem, with the same collection agency. The two teachers decide to take the bull by the horns, and face Mr Conklin about the debts. Will he be sympathetic to the cause, or be inclined to reprimand such errant behavior. The debt collector arrives, and Mr Conklin learns he also has a debt. Will his ethics allow him to dodge the collector? At least he is more lenient towards his indebted faculty.

In the lunch room, Walter and Harriet switch topic to the kind of programming on television, and it’s loose tie to education. Might there be other reasons the teens are drawn to the darkened TV room, with no programming over the air quite yet? The school TV set might be the thing that looks impressive, yet is unessential enough to put up for collateral on the debts.

To complicate matters for comic affect, Mr Stone from the school board wants to stop by to see how the new TV program at school is working. Once the classic slow burn from Conklin settles down, listen and learn how the faculty manage to dodge a bullet, with Western flare, on all fronts.
