Great Gildersleeve – New Neighbor, Rumson Bullard. 450429.

The routine in the Gildersleeve home is interrupted when everybody spies on the activities of the new neighbors. Gildy forbids peaking out the window, but he is just as guilty when left to himself. Curiosity kicks in across the board when Leila pops in to comment on the newcomers, and even Peavey makes a stop as an excuse to eavesdrop on the activity across the street.

Rather than all the posturing, and veiled posing at so called proper behavior, why not just go over and introduce yourself, and welcome the folks to the community? Joined by Judge Hooker and Floyd the barber, Gildy makes plans to do just that. Runson Bullard seems to be a grump, but I don’t think Gildy was listening to his needs. Maybe pitching in with unloading the moving van, while asking his favor may have carried more weight.

Later, at the Jolly Boys club, apologies are made all around for rash words the members had with each other over the day’s events. But what about Bullard? Birdie has a final word on that matter.

Note: Though there seems to be a different actor in the part today, Gale Gordon would take on the role as Gildersleeve neighbor, and nemesis on the show.
