In the Jotem Down store, Grandpap talks to Lum about the order he needs to place for more groceries. Lum wants him to pay cash, but with all the dipping into the till that Lum has made to cover the expenses at the circus, there’s not much left to work with.
Lum goes over ticket sales with Abner, and try to reconcile the income. Neither Abner nor Cedric understand what Lum’s talking about.
Squire arrives to tell about the expenses he’s run up, and shares his idea to take the circus on the road to boost sales.
Horlick drama: Mom tells dad about a note from Tommy’s teacher. He’s not in trouble, but the teacher shares her results of a test she did with the class. Horlick Malted Milk tablets have proven to make the kids well behaved, it doesn’t ruin appetites, and makes kids more alert.
What? Teachers conducting experiments on small children? And with a product that is both a food, and a drug, and yet neither. I don’t think that would fly in our schools today. OK, well maybe with parental permission slips, and legal documentation to exonerate the school administration of all blame.
