Though the previous show survived as only an eight-minute segment, comments made in today’s broadcast confirm it ran long. Don, Jack, and the cast fill time at the top of the episode by squeezing in a few more school-days-related jokes. Shortly after, Phil and the band play “With Thee I Swing.”

Jack surprises Kenny to mark his first anniversary on the show. Following all the build-up and a speech from Kenny, he performs “Talking to My Heart.” With the anniversary celebration wrapped up, the cast launches into a western sketch, “Buck Benny”—the very first in a famous series that would eventually be adapted into a feature film. Today’s fun, however, gets interrupted when Kenny lands in legal trouble and Jack ends up taking the fall.
