Amos walks in on Andy while he is writing an entry in his diary—and Amos has good reason to be suspicious. Though Andy is currently engaged to Madame Queen, he has been arranging a secret date with Stella, an upstairs maid who is also hiding the relationship from her own boyfriend.
While out at a club together, Andy and Stella notice a photographer snapping photos of the clientele. The next morning, Andy is awakened by Lightnin’ with news that two gentlemen are looking for him. Andy finds himself accused of stealing $2,000 from the mansion where Stella works, and he suspects the butler is framing him. Will Stella testify to clear his name? Not if it means revealing her own secret dating life to her boyfriend.
With the evidence stacked against him, Andy has his day in court. His defense lawyer faces an uphill battle to prove his good character—especially with the Kingfish stepping up as a character witness. Andy would rather face jail time than have his personal diary read aloud in court, but reading it may be the only way to establish his alibi. In the end, Amos, Lightnin’, and his friends piece together the details that save Andy from prison. But even though he is cleared of the theft, Andy might still wish he were in jail once Madame Queen finds out what he’s been up to!
