Jubilee (AFRS) Jack Benny, Rochester. ep109, 441025

"Dancing silhouettes" - A black and white image featuring the silhouettes of two people dancing together, captured in mid-motion. The figures are set against a light background and the lines of their bodies are sharp and angular. The woman's dress and the man's suit are clearly defined, while their faces are left blank, creating a sense of anonymity. The image evokes a feeling of joy and movement, as the couple appears to be lost in the rhythm of the dance.

Along with host Ernie Whitman, special guests join the show today:

  • Stella: Erskine Hawkins and his orchestra open with “Stella.”
  • Jack’s Entrance: Jack Benny takes the stage to chat with Ernie.
  • Rochester’s Call: Jack shares secrets about Rochester and his love life. Rochester phones in to defend himself, explain the whereabouts of Jack’s missing violin, and discuss dice games.
  • Bear Mash Blues: Erskine Hawkins plays “Bear Mash Blues” (or perhaps, given its sultry tone, “Bare Tones Blues”?).
  • Back to the Show: Jack returns to joke with Ernie and help with introductions.
  • Fly Right: Effie Smith delivers a performance of “Straighten Up and Fly Right.”
  • Fiddle Riffs: Rochester arrives in person with a few wisecracks and Jack’s violin. Fiddle in hand, Jack whips out jazzy ragtime riffs from a bygone era—even for 1943.
  • Them There Eyes: To cleanse the palate, the Lou Mel Morgan Trio performs a perky, upbeat, and smooth version of “Them There Eyes.”
  • Jive Talk: Ernie lays out some jive talk to explain how listeners can write in with song requests.
  • Tuxedo Junction: Erskine Hawkins closes out the show with “Tuxedo Junction.”
