Two men dressed in traditional Hawaiian attire, Lum and Abner, are seen mid-dance in the center of a small store. Lum, on the left, is playing a ukulele while Abner on the right is swaying his hips and waving his arms. A small crowd is gathered around them, some clapping and others smiling. The store itself is cluttered with various items, including shelves of canned goods and hanging clothes, giving it a cozy and lived-in feel.

Lum has shared his idea about starting a picture show. He and Abner try to find a building to use that meets the requirements of a movie house. They need a slanted floor, and a place to project the movie that is up high. Abner gets side tracked by talking about making shadow animals. Abner also gets confused by the concept of taking tickets.

Lum is concerned about the lost sales they are missing out on until the place can open. Abner is confused on the idea of the lost money of those potential sales. Lum even tells how customers will save money on gas by not having to drive to the county seat to see a show. Abner, of course gets confused on the idea of saving money in this way as well.

Fortunately, Dick Huttleston comes into the Jot ‘em Down store to break up the argument. Dick agrees to rent his old cotton warehouse to them for their picture show. It won’t even cost them much at all.
