After the opening commercial about Pep cereal, where we learn about the cool collection of the cardboard models of military fighter planes found in boxes of the product, the announcer fills in the listeners a little about the story thus far.
. . Superman has been helping in the war effort when a plane crashes, and the pilot needs saving. The downed pilot is safely resting in the hospital.
Today a railroad train is rushing towards a closed track. The engineer and fireman use its powerful air brakes to avoid destruction. But will their efforts come too late?
Clark and Jimmy listen to the radio as they have a sandwich in a bar. They discuss their latest nemesis, a mysterious voice that comes over the radio to warn of disastrous things that he makes happen. A phone call from Perry White sets Clark and Jimmy into action. Clark needs to give Jimmy the slip so he can spring into action as Superman, but can he do it without tipping off his secret identity?
Superman arrives at the scene of the stalled train. Assessing the damage, he flies the injured crewmen to a hospital, and safety.
Later, as Clark Kent, when he goes to follow up his investigation, he finds himself in a hospital room, and Great Scot! The doctor is unconscious. What did the doctor see? What could have been so fearsome to make him faint? It has something to do with the villain who calls himself, the Voice.
Note: I wish there were more in this season of Superman, but if they exist, I just can’t find them. I think this may just be a key season where lots of changes for Superman are happening. The war is on, and in full swing so he’s doing his part there. He seems to have acquired his x-ray vision this season. His friends are beginning to suspect, or at least question his identity. I’ll post them as I find them, but they certainly are sparce in this time in the history of the show.
