A newcomer to the Mounties, Cpl. Standish, gets the short end of the stick when he encounters a few of the tough, and hardened men of the North. Beaten down, and left in the snow, Standish has to play catch up on the cold and deadly trails. He faces the long night in the bitter cold, with wolves howling nearby, and struggling with snow blindness, the Mountie plods forward.

On the same trail, King picks up the scent, and leads Sgt Preston to the nearly frozen man. Standish is warmed, and revives enough to help with the chase.

It’s going to take a team effort, and King is on the scent. There’s not only the smell of bacon cooking in the criminal camp, but a bear on the prowl. Despite his bad start, Standish finishes big, with the confidence built in him by his friends
