the sights and sounds of spring or all-around. Gildersleeve’s and Leroy sit on the porch commenting about their neighbor Mr. Bullard who is doing his gardening. Gildy is suddenly motivated to do some gardening, and goes to ask Bullard for some advice. Leroy thinks it’s too much work, but goes along to investigate as well. In the end, the two gentlemen decide to start rival gardens. Heading to the nursery, Gildersleeve get some pointers on growing flowers.
Back home, Judge Hooker passes by and offers his thoughts about their car overloaded with gardening supplies. The judge also offers advice that Gildersleeve’s flowers won’t grow where he wants to plant them. Not deterred, Gildersleeve is sets out to dig his garden. Leroy and Marjorie both give excuses to not help him dig.
Despite the excuses, Leroy gets roped into helping in the garden. Should they just take everything back to the nursery and give up? With Bullard on hand, he boosts Gildersleeve’s motivation and offers advice on equipment he might need. It’s dinner time, in both Bertie and Marjorie are impressed with the labor of their menfolk. The worn out and weary gardeners need nap time before dinner. Might there be more trouble for the overworked Gildersleeve’s? Mr. Peavy delivers some remedies from the drugstore. The druggist shares his own experience with gardening. When Bullard comes over to present one of his prized potted roses, it might be what drives Gildersleeve’s over-the-top.
