A little bank has been recently painted, and the old structure is made to look fresh. A man puffs nervously on a long black cigar as he talks to his partner in crime. What are they planning in this Western Ghost Town? They stand to add a cool ten thousand dollars to their treasury.

In the office of the Daily Planet, Perry White discusses the problem of disappearing important men, and large sums of money with his star reporter, Clark Kent. Clark is on his way to investigate.

Back in the ghost town, the crooks are edgy, but anticipate catching their latest victim. Clark calls for back up from Jimmy or Lois, but they seem to be busy. Lois and Horatio Horn are on a chase of their own ghosts. Who is Horatio, and what is he to the Superman family? Just listen, since the story explains it all.

Lois and Horatio are on the trail of a scam that leads them to Nugget City, the ghost town with our thugs. While snooping around Lois and Horatio are tossed into a cellar with others, and a few dead bodies. The excitement builds when they try to make a plan to escape, but it only affirms how desperate their plight is. The brainy Horatio gives it his best try with his gadgets. Do they stand a chance without help from Superman?

Back in the Daily Planet, Clark talks with Perry about his investigation. Hey, I thought Clark was already gone. Oh well, back to the story.

More details of the missing persons are revealed. Suddenly, Clark has it figured out, and as Superman he makes a bee line for the ghost town. Time for all the loose ends to come together, in the exciting climax.

The bad guys realize that they’ve been pushing their luck, and decide to make their getaway and close up shop. They decide to put an end to their hostages, but find an encounter with Superman instead. All the secrets are revealed, and the bad guys get their due when they are turned over to the authorities.
