Irma and Jane talk about the charity masquerade party in the society section of the paper. A fancy event thrown by Jane’s boyfriend’s family. Though Irma would like to go, the tickets are very expensive. (For a rough inflation factor for dates around 1950, figure about 8 to 10 times what it says in the show.)
Al calls Irma, and she invites him over to comfort him on his unemployment situation. By the time Al arrives, all the friends are present to trade jokes and insults. Hey, good news. Richard provides tickets for the whole gang.
Now that everybody is going, what costumes should they wear? Besides that, they all want to try to help Mrs. Rhinelander raise more money at her event than a rival socialite. They have a plan, but will it work? I don’t want to say, but it’ll be fun.
