Mary and Dennis informed Don that Jack has not arrived yet. He’s on the telephone to talk to his lawyers. Mary opens the door so we can listen in on the call regarding the automobile accident that Rochester had last week. Mary convinces Jack to come clean about his phone call, and Don grills him on who was really at fault in the accident. Phil enters with the word he is past the midterm graduation at his night school. Jack begins to brag about his vaudeville day successes. Before he plays, Phil demonstrates his new skills in speaking French. Fill in the orchestra plays, “Hi Neighbor.”
Jack is back on the telephone to talk to his lawyers, and get the most out of his nickel. With a couple distractions from Phil, Mary and Dennis, Jack introduces today’s play. The cast assignments are made for the Frightwig Murder Case. The play will go on immediately after Dennis sings, “Bluebirds Over the White Cliffs of Dover.”
Detective O’Benny gets a phone call about a murder. Might there be a woman involved? Joined by his assistant, Sgt. Harris, Jack grills the suspects. Mary, the sultry Mrs. Frightwig makes her entrance. Jack’s lawyers make a musical appearance to go over his case with Rochester. Will the truckdriver hang? Will Jack get 30 days? Will we ever find out who killed Dennis? Stay tuned for the conclusion next week!
