Lum and Abner – Lum Fools Squire Skimp. 420505

Lum, Abner and their real-life wives are sitting together on a bench outdoors, near a pool. They appear relaxed and are smiling at each other. The two people on the left are wearing casual attire, while the two on the right are dressed more formally, with the person on the far right in a light-colored suit and bow tie. Trees are visible in the background under a clear sky, suggesting a pleasant day.

After having the light bulbs go on, and the truth revealed about their plan for the apartments, Lum is worried about that check he wrote out for Squire’s contractor to start work. Can he stop payment on it in time? Abner points out that it took both signatures on the check, and due to a mistake, he didn’t sign it.

Making a phone call to the bank, Lum gets disturbing word about Mr WW Dobbs, and all the smoke and mirrors that Squire tossed their way, and the goofy plan for the apartments has become all too clear for Lum, but it’s too late. Squire enters to assure our heroes that the lumber deal has gone through, but he doesn’t know that Lum knows the truth. Squire has cashed the check, and put it in his own account.

Can Lum turn the tables on Squire? Holding Squire’s feet to the fire, and using some of his own words against him, Lum makes him squirm a little. Convincing him that Mr Tiffin wants to buy the plans at a steep profit, they let Squire buy the plans back from them. Too bad that Lum already knows That Mr Tiffin already turned down the plans when he told Lum it was a crackpot idea.
