Chester and Matt race down the wooden sidewalks of Dodge, in response to gunshots. Who was it that Sally was shooting at? The trail weary, and under fed gal isn’t talking, but Matt still takes her to offer her a decent meal and put a roof over her head.

With Sally softened up with a good meal, the story of how her farming family came on hard times, and the man who sold them cattle didn’t disclose that the critters were diseased pushed the family further into despair. In trying to get her revenge, she ends up with charges against her on stealing from the livery, and attempted violence against the shady cattleman. The cattle sale was technically legal and binding, and Sally is left with the short end of the stick.

Matt can see the real injustice in the dirty dealing with Sally, and sets out to do the right thing. Can he get her off the hook? If he lets her go free, will she make a beeline with her guns for the cattleman? Townsmen rally to lend a hand, and the shady cattleman gets a taste of his own medicine from Doc.
